DLNR OAHU BOATING DISTRICT OFFICE RELOCATES TO KEEHI HARBOR
HONOLULU -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources' Oahu District office of the Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) has moved from the central downtown office on Queen Street to its new location at the Keehi Small Boat Harbor, 4 Sand Island Access Road, effective July 15, 2008. The new district phone number is 832-3520 and the fax number is 832-3524.
The office will house Oahu district manager Meghan Statts, assistant district manager Wesley Choi, a secretary and a clerk. They will share space with the Keehi Small Boat Harbor staff of eight. The Oahu district office will issue marine event permits, ocean recreation management area (ORMA) and commercial registrations, issue tow-in surfing decals, and handle other Oahu district and harbor related questions/issues.
The Oahu District office will not be handling any renewals of vessel registrations. That function for Oahu boaters will still be handled at DOBOR's main office at 333 Queen St., 3rd floor in Honolulu or on-line via www.vessel.ehawaii.gov.
"Relocating the Oahu district office to Keehi Small Boat Harbor will provide more room for staff, and move services to a more accessible location with free parking for the boaters it serves," said Laura H. Thielen, DLNR chairperson.
DOBOR's Oahu district consists of five small boat harbors at Ala Wai, Keehi Lagoon, Haleiwa, Heeia-Kea and Waianae, in addition to launch ramps at Kahana Bay, Maunalua Bay, Sand Island, and ocean management areas in Waikiki beach waters, Pokai bay and Kaneohe bay. The Oahu District office handles most issues from the high water mark on our island beaches to three miles out to sea around the island of Oahu.
